University of Glasgow 2023 James Mccune Smith PhD Scholarships


At this time, applications for the James Mccune Smith PhD Scholarships at the University of Glasgow for the 2022–2023 academic session are being accepted from candidates who meet the required qualifications. The fellowship provides funding for black students who are domiciled in the UK to do doctoral research at the university in any research area they choose.

In addition, the scholarships offer increased experience in the form of external mentors, placements, leadership training, community-building events, and chances for networking. There could be as many as ten chances for financial aid in the form of scholarships. The scholarship will cover both the stipend (estimated to be £18,022 for enrollment in 2023) and the tuition for a maximum of four years.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet all of the following requirements in order to be considered for the James Mccune Smith PhD Scholarships:

You must be a resident of the United Kingdom and either of the following ethnic groups: Black African, Black Caribbean, Black Other, Mixed White and Black Caribbean, Mixed Black African, or another mixed background (to include Black African, Black Carribean or Black Other).
Required to have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in a related field, both of which must have been earned from a respected academic institution.
It is required that you display good academic and research talents.
Procedures for Making Applications


To apply for the James Mccune Smith PhD Scholarships at the University of Glasgow 2023, interested applicants must complete the steps described (below):

Take a look at the research projects that faculty members at the University of Glasgow are working on so that you can make a recommendation for a research topic and a supervisor.
Please submit an Expression of Interest form that has been completely filled out.
Continue with the application procedure, starting with making contact with possible future supervisors. When you make first contact with a possible supervisor, make it a point to mention that you want to submit an application for a James McCune Smith Scholarship as one of the various funding sources you are considering. The applicant for a James McCune Smith Scholarship is responsible for determining the subject matter of their proposed research, in consultation with their potential advisor.
Your personal statement must be submitted through the Scholarship Portal. In the personal statement, you should discuss your research interests and explain why you would like to be a James McCune Smith Scholar in no more than 500 words.
Please use the MyCampus system to submit your application to the university. In the online full application, under the heading “Finance,” you are asked to list the James McCune Smith Scholarship as one of the potential sources of support.
